Vacations can be one of the worst times for those of you trying to eat healthy. This goes double for those of you travelling on all inclusive vacations, the temptation to eat will be great and your will power may not be able to resist a second or third helping of the delicious meals, snacks and deserts prepared for you.

Although it is a lot easier, these days, to find low fat or vegetarian meal on airplane flights and at the resort. You are still at the mercy of the hotel resort and the food preparers when it comes to eating healthy. That said, when it comes to eating healthy, generally, the same rules will generally apply while you are on vacation as they do while at home. Rather than simply reaching out for fried foods, keep your plate filled with nutritious foods like fruits, vegetables, yogurt. If you are unsure of what the contents a certain food, don’t eat it until you can find out.

Avoid excessive alcohol. Many travelers forget that alcohol is one of the worst things that you can put into your body and is generally an item that is responsible for weight gain. At your hotel, avoid the minibar. If your hotel offers a continental breakfast, stick to fruits and cereals (stay away from cereals with excessive sugar and salt. Try booking a hotel room with a stove or microwave so that you can prepare your own food.
Unless you really have no choice, avoid hanging around the hotel room, specifically the buffet table. Avoid eating large meals late into the night becase since most people tend to be less active at night, food eaten late at night stored as fat a lot easier . When your body gets ready for sleep and slows down, it also burns calories at a
much slower pace. Never eat highly processed carbs like bread before bedtime. If you must eat something, make it a piece of fruit or better still, vegetable.

Remember that eating healthy is a way of life, and you should allow for indulgences from time to time, but don’t make a habit of it. snacking on an ice cream cone or a slice of pizza is OK, even recommended, as long as you know when to stop. Eating healthy on vacation can be easy, if you have a plan. As long as you use a little will power, and eat the right foods while avoiding the wrong ones, you will be well on your way to enjoying a healthy lifestyle wherever you go.
